Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC):  WIC is a federally funded nutrition program for Women, Infants, and Children. WIC provides the following at no cost:  healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding support, and referrals for health care and community services.  For more information, visit the Florida Department of Health’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program web page

Healthy Families Florida:  Healthy Families Florida is a nationally accredited home visiting program for expectant parents and parents of newborns experiencing stressful life situations. The program improves childhood outcomes and increases family self-sufficiency by empowering parents through education and community support. 

Text4Baby:  Text4baby is an educational program of the National Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies Coalition.  Moms can get messages each week on their cell phone to help them through their pregnancy and baby’s first year.  Signing up is easy! 


Services Available:

Healthy Start is a voluntary program designed to ensure that pregnant women and children ages 0 - 3 years have access to health care and other services that will promote healthy outcomes. All pregnant women in the State of Florida should be offered the Healthy Start Prenatal Risk Screening at their first prenatal visit and the Healthy Start Infant Risk Screening before they leave the hospital or birthing center. These screenings help to determine what services a mother and her baby may be eligible for.

If you are pregnant and/or have a child from birth to age 3, call us! DOH-St. Johns Healthy Start program offers the following:

  • Home visits by a Registered Nurse and/or a Family Support Worker.
  • Education and information about having a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby.
  • Inter-conceptional (between pregnancy) education and counseling for future healthy pregnancies.
  • Case management and referral to other agencies, as needed.
  • Smoking cessation counseling
  • Parenting education
  • Breastfeeding education
  • Childbirth classes

Who is Eligible?

Any pregnant woman and/or infants under the age of 3 years, who are residents of St. Johns County.

What is the Fee?

All Healthy Start services are provided at NO cost, regardless of income.

Is an Appointment Required?

To expedite your visit, please call 904-209-3250, Ext. 1038 to make an appointment.  Walk-ins are also accepted.

Clinic Hours:

Monday - Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

What should I bring with me? (i.e. for eligibility, etc.)

  • A valid photo I.D. (such as a Driver's License)
